Kelly Williamson is the licensed physical therapist working with the geriatric population in hospital, home health, and outpatient settings for over 20 years. Also, she is a certified Tai Chi instructor for memory, pain and balance.
In 2020, Kelly will offer a Tai Chi program (45 min) at your assisted living community or memory care residential home or 1-on-1 with your loved-one at their home or community. Also, Kelly will incorporate 10-15 min of Tai Chi when she implements the
Sensory Outings activities program
Research has shown that the routine practice of Tai Chi assists with memory and cognitive skills. In seniors, it increases brain volume and memory. The Tai Chi for memory program is used to assist people with short attention spans, memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia. Each session can be tailored to the individual needs of the participants. Participants can practice while seated or standing. The length and the simplicity of the movements make Tai Chi for memory enjoyable for people with memory issues.
